The Norfolk Riddle licensed restaurant and fish & chip shop

Close to the Farms Shop you’ll find our restaurant, also part of the Walsingham Farms Shop Partnership. Our chef, Hervé, changes his menus almost daily as he responds to locally available produce.

The restaurant is licensed so you can enjoy a glass of Norfolk ale or cider with your food or choose from our modestly priced wine list.

MENU & SOURCING

Our menu changes regularly adapting to what’s in season and available locally, direct from producers. There’s always a freshly made vegetarian dish, plus daily changing vegetables and plenty on the specials board such as sea bass, mussels or crab from the coast when they’re in season. All our drinks are locally sourced, including pressed apple juices, Norfolk cider and locally brewed beer. Meat is from the Farms Shop and game is from the Walsingham Estate shoot.

PARTIES

The Riddle is a great place for a party – we can seat up to 40 people inside, with space for up to 40 outside. We would be delighted to arrange a special menu, just call to discuss your requirements.

WHY THE NORFOLK RIDDLE?

You’ll notice some giant sieves hanging up in the restaurant. These are riddles, agricultural implements for sorting and grading potatoes. We aim to ‘sort’ locally grown potatoes, an East Anglian staple crop, into tasty mash, crunchy chips and more.

THE FISH & CHIP SHOP

At our traditional fish and chip takeaway we turn Norfolk potatoes into the finest chips, and fry fish from sustainable sources. You’ll find all your classic favourites, but we use the best beef dripping for our frying, and make our pies and sausages in the Farms Shop, so everything tastes fresh and delicious.
