We aim to provide ethical, local food shopping, through our partnership with farmers and food producers, so as to bring good local food direct from producers to customers at our shop and restaurant.
Right in the heart of the medieval pilgrimage village of Little Walsingham, you'll find our spectacular, contemporary food emporium.
We have a full butchery counter where we offer truly local meat, poultry and game, expertly prepared by Clive, Dan and John, our butchers. We cook every day in our shop kitchen, where Sue, Barbara, Elvis and Nancy make ready-made
dishes, pies and patés, soups, stews and mouthwatering puddings, all using the best of local ingredients and fresh produce.
Our kitchen can prepare dishes to order in large or small sizes,
order by telephone, 01328 821877, or in person at the counter
The shop is stocked directly from local producers and farmers wherever
possible. Partner James Woodhouse supplies his mouth-watering
beef, from Hill House Farm, Great Walsingham. Free range hen's, goose, duck and quail's eggs come from David and Helen Perowne at Top Farm, Great Snoring.
Both farms are under a mile from the shop. We have cheeses from Norfolk makers such as Catherine Temple at Wighton, and Ellie Betts of Ferndale Farm, Little Barningham, and vegetables from many different growers, including Walsingham allotment-holders. We stock only Norfolk ham and bacon and our own sausages; Suffolk salami; locally reared poultry; fresh and smoked fish and shellfish; cakes, jams, pickles and chutneys home made in Walsingham; honey from Walsingham bees; Norfolk milk, yoghourt and ice cream; Letheringsett flour; locally baked bread; local fruit juices; wine, Norfolk cider and beer….
Quality produce is delivered as it comes into season
We do stock items which come from further afield;
but they've been carefully chosen, and as much as possible, brought to
you direct from the producer. Some of our producers are East Anglians with continental connections, such as the olive groves in Catalonia
- North Eastern Spain - run by Tim and Simone Pringle who run their business Casa de l'Oli in Suffolk. We have also recently begun offering some produce that can't be grown in this country, such as oranges, bananas, lemons and avocados, but we have sourced these as ethically as possible. |
